Digital Selves

Nowadays, technology is everything. Our generation wouldn't function properly without it. Being a Computer Engineering major, I have invested much time into my own digital identity. From myspace to facebook, my digital self has grown as technology has grown. I'm not really much of an online community type of person, but i know that whenever i need information or need to contact someone, there is no better way to do it in these times other than through an online community. Everything that one is capable of doing in reality, has become available for us online as well. Therefore, I am a big time online shopper when it comes to buying clothes and items of my interests. However, all this technology has resulted in many people having dual personalities and creating an ideal digital image of what they have always wanted to be. People hide themselves behind a computer screen and think that it can protect them from the real world. They change their attitude completely and turn themselves into a totally new person. I myself, must admit, that I somewhat change my attitude whenever I get behind a computer screen, but only when I'm doing some online gaming. I can say that most of my life has been spent behind a computer screen since i was 11. I've learned about them inside and outside and how they work all around. People might think they can create a new image of themselves whenever they get online, but in reality, you'll always be the person you are physically, not digitally.
